Delta Omicron Sigma Alumnae Chapter joined Sorors throughout the state of Ohio to participate in the D9 Day on the Hill at the Ohio Statehouse.  The D9 Day on the Hill is a statewide advocacy event where members of NPHC Greek Organizations across Ohio join together to engage with elected officials on important community issues. Conversations included topics such as the financial and housing challenges in lower income communities, unjust sentencing practices, empowering youth, teaching honest history, and understanding the impact of our actions.

Additionally, we talked about the need to unite and work together to represent, advocate, serve, and address various issues. This includes having more members of the D9 community involved in local, state, and national community programs and organizations.

The panel discussions were led by Ohio elected officials from across the state that are also members of the Divine Nine:

  • Senator Hearcel Craig (Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.)
  • Representative Willis Blackshear (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.)
  • State School Board Member Meryl Johnson (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.)
  • Judge Michael Ryan (Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.)
  • Judge Anita Laster Mays (Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.)
  • Councilman Blaine Griffin (Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.)
