Denim Day 2025

Denim Day is observed on April 30, as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and it holds powerful significance in the fight against sexual violence and victim blaming.

Denim Day began after a 1998 Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction. The court claimed the victim must have consented because her jeans were so tight that she would have had to help remove them—implying mutual consent. In response, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to protest the ruling and support the victim.
